Notre Dame extends offer to 2026 Illinois three-star tight end

Notre Dame does not yet have a tight end commit in its 2026 recruiting class. Mike Denbrock hopes to change that with one three-star recruit out of Illinois.

Gavin Mueller, who lives in Wheaton but plays at South Elgin, has announced on social media that Denbrock has presented him with an offer to play for the Irish. Going back to May, this is the 17th offer for Mueller, who is ranked 10th among 2026 Illinois-based recruits according to 247Sports.

Among the other programs who have offered Mueller are Purdue, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Duke, NC State, Florida, Kentucky and Ole Miss. So chances are he’s going to wind up at a very prominent program.

If Mueller were to commit to the Irish today, he would be their eighth 2026 commit, though he would rank in the bottom half among those commits. Still, the Irish need a tight end in that class, and they obviously have faith in him:

Best of luck to Mueller as he makes his decision.
