Ranking the early Top 10 quarterbacks heading into the 2025 college football season

We are still a long way away from the start of the 2025 college football season, but it’s never too early to look ahead and make some predictions about what is expected to be another highly competitive season.

Things aren’t always so cut and dry when analyzing the quarterback position. Just look at the 2024 preseason Heisman rankings if you want to get a sense of what I mean. Talent is tough to ignore, but it’s also easy to miss. Year after year, players prove to us that they are the guys we thought they were, and others come out and shock everyone. For some last season, Clemson starting quarterback Cade Klubnik was both the guy we thought and the guy who shocked many.

All across college football, there were superstars and letdowns at the position, and that’s not going to change next season. We will see some excel while others fail to live up to our hype. We just do our best to identify who’s going to do what.

Heading into the season, we are ranking our way-too-early Top 10 quarterbacks. These rankings are purely based off of what I’ve seen on the field and my expectations beyond that. There will be some shocks here, but that’s fine, as I believe a few guys are being drastically slept on heading into this season.

Here’s my way-too-early Top 10 quarterbacks.

10. Diego Pavia – Vanderbilt Commodores

2024 stats: 177-of-298, 2,292 yards passing, 20 TDs, 4 INTs; 800 yards rushing, 8 TDs

After bringing life to the Vanderbilt football program in 2024, Pavia has earned his place on these rankings. Granted one more year of eligibility, he’s got another opportunity to make some noise in the SEC. People…
