Texas A&M will host 2026 4-star safety out of Maryland this summer

Texas A&M’s recruiting success is no surprise, even after Mike Elko was hired after Jimbo Fisher’s dismissal over a year and a half ago. The second-year head coach has landed nine commitments in the 2026 cycle, including four-star defensive lineman Jermaine Kinsler, who announced his intentions last week.

This summer, Elko and his staff will host a growing list of 2026 prospects, such as five-star athlete Brandon Arrington and five-star safety Bralan Womack, who will make their way to College Station in early June. On Wednesday, it was revealed that another defensive back prospect will also visit the Aggies this summer, as four-star safety Jireh Edwards visit Auburn, Maryland, Georgia, Texas A&M, and Oregon from May to mid-June.

Before he makes his way to College Station on June 13, the Aggie coaching staff will have more time to evaluate his tape. It shows a player with a similar coverage skillset to Bralan Womack, while his closing speed and instincts as a run defender are why he has already received nearly 30 offers.

During his 2024 junior season, Edwards recorded 92 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, six pass breakups and three forced fumbles. Standing at 6-2 and 205 pounds, Edwards has the size and speed to play at either safety position and could even thrive as a linebacker.

According to 247Sports, Edwards is currently positioned as the 34th-ranked prospect in the 2026 cycle, the third-ranked safety, and the third-ranked prospect in Maryland.
