Ohio State football adds experienced offensive line coach to staff

Ohio State football added some more impressive firepower to its coaching staff with the addition of Marcus Johnson. The former Ole Miss offensive line standout himself has an impressive body of work that includes stops with the Duke Blue Devils where he spent time as the strength and conditioning coach from 2011-2012, offensive quality control assistant from 2013-2015, and finally, offensive line coach from 2016-2017. He then became the offensive line coach for the Mississippi State Bulldogs from 2018-2019, Missouri from 2020-2022, and most recently Purdue from 2023-2024. He will now be making his next move as a senior analyst for the Buckeyes.

Johnson also has an impressive resumé as a player as he earned All-SEC honors in 2004 before being drafted in the second round of the 2005 NFL Draft and spending five years in the NFL before getting into coaching. He also played a short tenure in the United Football League.

The NCAA no longer has a limit on the number of coaches able to participate on the field for games, and adding someone like Johnson could play a much larger role than in previous years.
