The Oregon Ducks football team is shoring up the offensive line thanks to some transfer portal additions, but now it looks as if the Ducks just lost an offensive lineman to that same portal.
According to Chris Hummer of 247Sports, offensive tackle George Silva plans to leave Eugene, enter the transfer portal, and play his final season of college football elsewhere.
In his two seasons as a Duck, Silva played in 13 games. He appeared in seven games in his first season and saw 51 snaps on offense at left tackle, and 16 on special teams. In 2023. Silva was a part of an Oregon offensive line group that led the nation with just five total sacks allowed and he earned an 86.2 pass-blocking grade from Pro Football Focus on the season, allowing zero pressures in 15 pass-blocking opportunities.
In this past season, Silva appeared in six games. But with the additions of Isaiah World from Nevada and Alex Harkey out of Texas State along with the other lineman already in the program, a starting position for Silva was far from a guaranteed thing, which is probably one of the reasons for his departure.
