Florida football has elevated assistant coach Russ Callaway to the role of offensive coordinator for the 2025-26 season, according to Matt Zenitz of 247Sports.
This promotion comes after Callaway’s significant contributions as co-offensive coordinator and tight ends coach during the 2024 season, marking a pivotal step in his career since joining the Gators’ coaching staff in 2022.
In 2022, Callaway initially joined the Florida football program as an analyst, following a tenure with the New York Giants and LSU Tigers. He also had stints with the Alabama Crimson Tide and Samford Bulldogs.
During his five seasons at Samford, Callaway served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach from 2016-19, while also coaching the wide receivers from 2015-17.

By 2023, Callaway had advanced to the position of tight ends coach before stepping into a more prominent role as co-offensive coordinator with the Gators.
Despite not holding play-calling duties initially, Callaway has been influential in developing offensive strategies.
Florida head coach Billy Napier has expressed confidence in Callaway’s ability to enhance the team’s offense. The Gators are looking to build on the foundation implemented in the previous seasons, with a focus on refining and advancing their offensive plays as they head into the next season.
