As the Longhorns continue to focus on 2026 class, they got good news on the recruiting trail this weekend. Four-star recruit Tank King set the date for his official visit to Austin for the weekend of June 13. Texas is one of three schools that King has set an official visit with. The other schools on that list are Notre Dame and Texas A&M.
The Port Arthur Memorial High School product is ranked as the 12th-best linebacker and 21st-best prospect from Texas in his class. Over the last few years, he has seen his stock rise after a stellar 2023 campaign. As a sophomore, he recorded 138 tackles while frustrating offensive coordinators. The Longhorns hope Tank’s football journey leads him to Austin.
Due to his play, Texas has made its interest clear. Last April, he got an offer from the Longhorns before taking an unofficial visit to campus. According to On3, Texas A&M has the inside track, but that hasn’t stopped Texas from trying to add King to the mix.
With recruitment of the 2026 class ramping up, improving the defense is vital after losing key players to the upcoming NFL draft. They are also in the mix for the top safety Blaine Bradford. Landing either player would give Texas one of the top classes in the nation, with lots of talent still undecided.
When King starts his visits, Texas will be the second program he meets with. The first program will be Texas A&M, with Notre Dame rounding out the tour. As each program makes its best pitch, the Longhorns will try to make a Tank an offer he can’t turn down.
