The Texas football coaching staff has suffered another defection, according to multiple reports.
Terry Joseph is set to join the coaching staff of the NFL’s New Orleans Saints. Joseph, who had been serving as the Longhorns’ defensive passing game coordinator while coaching corners, was slated to coach safeties this season to facilitate the addition of Rutgers’ Mark Orphrey to the staff.

That change came in reaction to the departure of safeties coach Blake Gideon, who departed earlier this offseason to become the defensive coordinator at Georgia Tech.
The Longhorns also lost highly respected running backs coach Tashard Choice this offseason. Like Joseph, he made the jump to the NFL coaching ranks, becoming the running backs coach for the Detroit Lions.
Joseph had been in Austin for the entirety of coach Steve Sarkisian’s four-season tenure. No team in college football allowed fewer yards per pass attempt than Texas did in 2024.
