Where Alabama ranks in new USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll after Missouri loss, Kentucky win

The Alabama Crimson Tide’s 110-98 loss to the Missouri Tigers caused them to drop in the new USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, released Monday.

Despite bouncing back for a 96-83 win over the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday at Coleman Coliseum, Alabama (22-5 overall, 11-3 SEC) fell two spots to No. 6 in the Coaches Poll and now rank one spot behind SEC rival Tennessee (22-6) at No. 5 and one spot ahead of Rick Pitino’s St. John’s Red Storm at No. 7.

Alabama plays at Tennessee on Saturday. The Tide and Vols are set for a 3 p.m. CT tipoff at Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville. The game will be televised on ESPN.

The Auburn Tigers (25-2) stayed at No. 1 while the Duke Blue Devils (24-3) moved past the Florida Gators (24-3) to No. 2 after their 110-67 win over Illinois at Madison Square Garden Saturday.

Also moving past Alabama in this week’s Top 25 rankings? Kelvin Sampson’s Houston Cougars (23-4), who the Crimson Tide beat 85-80 in overtime at the Players Era Festival in Las Vegas last November. Houston rose one spot to No. 4.

Alabama will host No. 24 Mississippi State (19-8, 7-7) Wednesday at Coleman Coliseum. Tipoff is at 8 p.m. CT. The game will be televised on ESPN.
