Elite tight end, Ian Premer, sets Michigan football spring visit

Michigan football has a long history of having elite tight end play, most recently with players such as Jake Butt, Luke Schoonmaker, and Colston Loveland. Could the Wolverines be adding another elite tight end to the list in 2026?

The Wolverines do have need for big names after striking out on longtime commit Andrew Olesh, the 2025 tight end who flipped to Penn State just after early signing day. And one recruit is giving Michigan football a hard look — 2026 Great Bend (Kan.) four-star TE Ian Premer.

Premer is listed as the No. 23 player in the country, regardless of position, by On3. And, also according to On3, he will make a spring visit to Ann Arbor on March 22.

Of course, Miami and Notre Dame are two other programs that also heavily feature the tight end, so his visits there are big threats.

The Wolverines brought in flex-tight end Eli Owens last year (who projects more to fullback) while signing Brady Prieskorn and Hogan Hansen the year beforehand.
