Tennessee football coach Josh Heupel has added former Oklahoma teammate Seth Littrell to his staff, a source confirmed to Knox News on Tuesday.
The source spoke on the condition of anonymity because UT has not announced Littrell’s hire. He likely will slide into an analyst role because all 10 assistant roles have been filled.
Heupel and Littrell have a longstanding friendship, dating to when they served as co-captains of Oklahoma’s 2000 national title team. Heupel was the Heisman Trophy runner-up quarterback, and Littrell was a fullback.

Littrell, 46, was fired as Oklahoma offensive coordinator in October, a month after UT beat the Sooners 25-15 in Heupel’s return to Norman. He had spent the past two seasons on Oklahoma’s staff.
Littrell has coached in college for more than 20 years at seven schools, including seven seasons as North Texas head coach. He posted a 44-44 record with six bowl bids and two Conference USA title game appearances from 2016 to 2022.
