OU football hires Jim Nagy, Senior Bowl executive director, to be Sooners’ general manager

NORMAN — OU has its new football general manager, as well as a different structure for its football organization.

The Sooners announced the hiring of Senior Bowl executive director Jim Nagy as the team’s general manager Wednesday.

“This is a new era in intercollegiate athletics at one of the greatest college football programs in the country,” Nagy said in a release. “The legacy of excellence that precedes my arrival is a testament to the leadership at OU and the university’s commitment to execute at a championship level. I am honored to bring my experience and work ethic to this program and am confident that through collaboration and effort, we can achieve excellent results. I am truly excited to get to Norman and begin our process with Coach (Brent) Venables and his great staff.”

While Nagy replaces Curtis Lofton in the general manager role, the position is evolving.

The release announcing Nagy’s hire said the general manager “will work alongside the head football coach to construct a roster capable of competing at a championship level.”

Nagy has held his position with the Senior Bowl, a college all-star game that showcases draft-eligible players, since 2018.

Prior to his time with the Senior Bowl, Nagy spent nearly two decades in NFL scouting with Seattle, Kansas City, New England and Washington.

He is a University of Michigan grad.
