Top prep quarterback has high praise for Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule

Class of 2027 four-star quarterback Trae Taylor is close to deciding where to play college football. The Huskers are very much on his mind as he narrows down his targets.

Illinois, LSU, Michigan, Nebraska, and Texas A&M are all vying for his services. The Illinois prep star is coming off a stellar season for Carmel Catholic High School, during which he recorded 3,061 passing yards, 20 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He averaged 270.3 yards per game and had a tremendous individual year.

The quarterback will visit the Huskers on March 27. Taylor also confirmed he plans to announce his commitment on June 6. According to Rivals, he is a four-star recruit, the No. 4 quarterback in the class of 2027, and the top player in the state of Illinois.

Taylor has spoken highly about the Huskers in the past, and now he is praising them again as his decision nears. He talked to On3’s Chad Simmons about what makes the Huskers so appealing. (Subscription required)

“Coach Rhule and coach Thomas are great coaches and are very consistent with me. They have NFL, so them being around the league means a lot. They have shown they could get me ready for the NFL.”

The program has a solid stable of quarterbacks. Dylan Raiola leads the charge, while TJ Lateef and Dayton Raiola are waiting in the wings. Landing Taylor will continue to bolster the quarterback room for the Huskers, and give them consistency at the position for years to come.
