Auburn football to host four-star WR Jase Matthews for two upcoming visits

One of the top wide receivers from Mississippi of the 2026 recruiting cycle is strongly considering Auburn to be his college destination.

Jase Matthews, a four-star wide receiver from Greene County High School in Lakesdale, Mississippi, has pieced his visit list for the upcoming months. In it, he plans to visit Auburn twice. He tells Chad Simmons of On3 that he will take a spring visit to Auburn this April and his official visit to campus on June 6.

As expected, many SEC programs are on Matthews’ radar. However, his relationship with head coach Hugh Freeze and wide receivers coach Ryan Davis is keeping Auburn high on his list.

“I have been to Auburn for a game and for a Junior Day. At the game, the atmosphere was electric,” Matthews said in a recent interview with On3. “They have great fans and I like coach (Ryan) Davis a lot. We talk a lot and Coach Freeze has been great to talk to too.”

Matthews tells On3 that a deep connection with a coaching staff and a positive environment will be key during his recruitment. He hopes to find the perfect place during his upcoming visits, which will feed into his planned commitment period of August or September.

Matthews is the No. 14 wide receiver from Mississippi according to On3’s industry ranking and ranks No. 56 nationally. LSU, Miami, Colorado, Texas A&M, Mississippi State, and Ole Miss join Auburn in the race to land Matthews.
