The Little Miami Panthers announced on Feb. 26 the return of Nate Mahon as head football coach. Mahon was the head coach at Little Miami for three seasons from 2016-2018 and will replace Arryn Chenault who stepped down after one season.
“One of Coach Mahon’s greatest strengths is his ability to implement a plan for program resurgence, and this community has never been more eager to support its athletic programs,” Little Miami athletic director Matt Louis said in a release.
Nate Mahon, pictured during a playoff game while at West Clermont, was rehired as football head coach by Little Miami for the 2025 season.
Mahon, a Hamilton High School and Miami University graduate, was the head coach at Northwest before taking over at Little Miami. Little Miami, then in the Southwest Ohio Conference, had won four games in four seasons leading to his arrival. Mahon takes over the program, now in the Eastern Cincinnati Conference, that has combined to go 2-19 in the last two years.
Under Mahon, Little Miami went 3-7 his first season before producing 7-3 and 9-3 records the next two years.
“My first three years at Little Miami High School were some of the greatest years of my life,” Mahon said in a release. “We have built lasting friendships and relationships here, and I couldn’t be more excited to lead the Little Miami Football Program again, well into the future.”
After leaving Little Miami, Mahon had head coaching stints at Hamilton and West Clermont before serving as an offensive assistant at Perry-Meridian High School in Indianapolis this past season.
