Florida football added the son of its icon coach to join its 2025 staff.
Steve Spurrier Jr. was hired as an offensive analyst where his 31-year background as a position coach and co-offensive coordinator could benefit the Florida Gators in 2025.
The 53-year-old Spurrier Jr. spent the last two seasons at Tulsa, where he served as assistant head coach, quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator. He’s worked as a wide receivers coach at Mississippi State (2020-22) under the late Mike Leach, while also coaching wide receivers at Washington State (2018-19), South Carolina (2005-08), the Washington Commanders (2002-03) and Oklahoma (1999-2001).
Spurrier Jr. also had a three-year stint as co-offensive coordinator at South Carolina from 2012-15.
Spurrier Jr. is the son of former UF coach Steve Spurrier, who guided the Gators to six SEC titles from 1990-2002 and the school’s first national title in 1996. Spurrier Jr. began his career as a graduate assistant coach under his father at UF from 1994-98.
The elder Spurrier is on Florida’s athletic staff as the school’s ambassador.
