Sherrone Moore shares why Michigan football beat Ohio State in 2024

Michigan football shocked the world on Nov. 30, 2024 when the 6-5 Wolverines went into Columbus, shorthanded, three-score underdogs, and took down the world-famous Ohio State Buckeyes.

Just about no one saw it coming as OSU were national championship favorites — and indeed won said national championship. However, without cornerback Will Johnson and tight end Colston Loveland, Michigan went into the Shoe, dominated the trenches and escaped with a 13-10 win.

And Sherrone Moore could feel it coming the week before.

Moore beat Ohio State the previous year as interim head coach with Jim Harbaugh suspended, but he ended up with his first bona fide victory over the Buckeyes in Columbus as the head coach. This week, he recalled the week leading up to The Game with Adam Breneman and shared why the Wolverines emerged victorious for the fourth straight year.

“For me, it was all about, like, these players and we went — I talked about the Indiana game and then we had a bye week and we had a bye week and then we had a Monday practice and it was, like, one of the most energetic practices we’ve ever had just in my whole seven years,” Moore said. “And so, it felt really good. We played Northwestern, had a really good game and then you went into that game and that’s all we think about.

“We think about The Game 365 days a year. So, that game is always on our mind and it will always stay like that. So, for us, for this program, it was huge and to get the calls from Tom and Charles and Desmond and all those guys and Rich Eisen and Adam Schefter of how proud they are of our players, like, that did it all and that’s all you strive for.”

Ohio State had dominated the rivalry from 2001 to 2019, with Michigan only winning twice in that span. However, starting in 2021, the Wolverines have upended what used to be the status quo, having beaten the…
