Wisconsin football extended an offer to talented class of 2026 running back Evan Hampton on Wednesday.
Hampton becomes 30th 2026 running back to receive an offer from Wisconsin at this stage of the recruiting process. As of Feb. 26, the 6’0”, 208-pound recruit has received nearly 30 offers from top programs across the country.
The top of that list includes Penn State, Illinois, Louisville, Kentucky, Missouri, Stanford, North Carolina, Arkansas and Indiana. He received his first offer back in February 2024, plus has added five since the start of 2025. 247Sports’ composite ranking considers the Owensboro High School product the No. 257 overall recruit in the class, the No. 20 running back and tge No. 1 prospect from his home state of Kentucky.
In 10 games with Owensboro in 2024-25, Hampton rushed 147 times for 1,349 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also reeled in 12 receptions for 78 yards and four scores as a tail back. In his career at Owensboro to date, he’s accumulated 2,171 rushing yards and 31 rushing touchdowns.
NC State is considered the favorite to land the two-sport athlete at this stage of his recruiting process at 63.4%, per On3’s recruiting prediction machine. Neither Rivals nor 247Sports have released a forecast for the junior running back’s decision.
While Hampton has scheduled visits to Michigan, Indiana and NC State this spring, Wisconsin’s status in producing running backs cannot be ignored. Whether it be Braelon Allen, Melvin Gordon, James White, Montee Ball or Jonathan Taylor, the Badgers have developed some of the nation’s best running backs since 2010. That factor may play a role in Hampton’s final decision.
Three-star offensive lineman Benjamin Novak still occupies the only spot on UW’s 2026 commitment sheet. That number will balloon as UW zeroes in on next fall’s recruiting class.
