With Cincinnati Bearcats spring football starting around the corner on Monday, March 10, head coach Scott Satterfield and defensive coordinator Tyson Veidt previewed the upcoming months along with new secondary coach hires Adam Braithwaite and Eddie Hicks.
UC will kickstart 2025 with 15 transfer portal additions and 13 players from the high school ranks. Their spring work will culminate with a Spring Week Showcase open practice/scrimmage on Saturday, April 12 at noon. Coinciding with football activities, the Bearcats baseball team plays Arizona State in a Big 12 game at 3 p.m. at the UC Baseball Stadium.

Since shortly after the first of the year, Director of Football Performance Niko Palazeti has been running the Bearcats through grueling work trying to get them ready for spring and beyond. Satterfield says it’s not surprising to hear transfers say it’s the toughest work they’ve done and they hope it pays off soon.
As for the spring events, many schools have eliminated the spring game altogether, much of that due to the poaching of players that has become familiar with big money football.

“Some of these coaches are a little worried about what they put out in the spring game,” Satterfield said.
The reasons involve other teams scouting your talent and the chances of losing someone that has a successful game in front of fans or on video. The unfortunate truth is a spring portal exists beginning April 16 through April 25. It’s not unusual for more roster movement post-spring practice.
