Florida football hires Dae’One Wilkins as quality control coach

Florida football has officially added Dae’One Wilkins to its football support staff as a quality control coach, focusing on the safeties, Florida Victorious’ Nick de la Torre reported.

This appointment fills the vacancy left by CJ Wilford, who transitioned to a coaching role at Georgia State earlier this year.

Wilkins joins the Gators after a notable stint with the Kentucky Wildcats where he served as a defensive graduate assistant in 2024. The Wildcats’ secondary excelled, as they ranked fourth in the SEC and 21st nationally allowing an average of 183.7 passing yards per game.

Before his tenure at Kentucky, Wilkins honed his coaching skills at Furman University, his alma mater and also the alma mater of Florida football head coach Billy Napier.

At Florida, Wilkins will work under the supervision of newly appointed safeties coach and co-defensive coordinator Vinnie Sunseri, who joined the Gators’ coaching staff at the end of January.

As the Gators continue to revamp and improve their coaching staff, Wilkins adds a lot of value to the team and he is expected to be a solid hire for the program.
