SAN ANTONIO — The Alamodome stands were packed Saturday morning for the Class 5A Division II state championship game between Monterey and Liberty Hill, and the crowd included more than fans.
Multiple college coaches took in the matchup, which included No. 1-ranked recruit Aaliyah Chavez. The Monterey guard is set to announce her commitment March 25, with hometown Texas Tech among the finalists.
The Lady Raiders played their final regular season game Saturday, but assistant coach Erik DeRoo was able to make the trip to watch Chavez.
Texas is also in the mix, and associate head coach Elena Lovato and assistant Blair Schaefer attended Saturday’s contest.
