Updated SEC Standings after Texas A&M’s 89-70 loss to Florida

No. 12 Texas A&M (20-9. 9-7 SEC) will continue to tumble in the rankings after losing to No. 3 Florida 89-70 on Saturday night, as the Aggies are now riding a four-game losing streak with two games remaining in the regular season. Next up, A&M will host No. 1 Auburn on Tuesday night. They need to end what has been a miserable skid.

The Aggies’s struggles aren’t confusing on the surface, knowing that the lack of outside shooting options paired with poor 3-point defense has led to the team’s exposing their weaknesses, and even though junior forward Pharrel Payne has been the consistnet bright spot offensively, A&M’s lack of identity has led to team’s keying in on the big man’s paint presence late in games.

Still, Texas A&M is a shoo-in to make the NCAA Tournament. Still, late losses only put a bad taste in the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee’s mouth regarding seeding, as the Aggies were once considered as high as a 2-seed just two weeks ago.

Around the rest of the SEC, South Carolina’s shocking blowout 72-53 win over Arkansas dealt a significant blow to the Razorbacks’ chances of making the NCAA Tournament, while Georgia’s 83-67 road win over Texas more than likely knocked the Longhorns out of the big dance. Outside of that, all favored conference teams took care of business.
