Glenbrook reaches into Arkansas to hire coach who previously coached at the school

Glenbrook School in Minden has named a new, old coach to run its football program.

Greg Tibbitt, who previously coached at the school, has returned to replace Reagan Smith, according to athletic director James Thurman. Smith stepped down in December after guiding his teams to a 13-7 mark over two seasons with trips to the LHSAA postseason both years.

Tibbitt coached Glenbrook in 2012 and 2013, finishing with a 15-9 record including a 9-4 campaign in 2013 with a MAIS semifinal appearance. Glenbrook is now a member of the LHSAA.

“I am excited for the opportunity to return to Glenbrook as football coach and am eager to build upon the rich tradition and recent successes of the Apache football program,” Tibbitt said in a release. “I will focus on continuing the momentum and working toward developing a championship-caliber program that will sustain success for years to come.”

Tibbitt has been serving as athletic director and football coach at Green Forest High School in Arkansas where he directed the team to its inaugural Class 4A playoff berth.

“Coach Tibbitt originally brought me to Glenbrook in 2012, and our two seasons together were some of the best years of my 24-year career,” Thurman said. “He built a culture of hard work and accountability, and every player who suited up for him respected and admired him. There’s no doubt he’ll instill that same standard of excellence in our program today. He’s not just coaching football — he’s developing young men who will leave Glenbrook better than they arrived.”
