Everything Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer said after first spring practice

The Alabama Crimson Tide football program made its’ official return to the field Monday afternoon for the start of spring practice, giving the fanbase a look at the 2025 version of the team for the first time on-field.

While there were some returning players missing due to injuries, a large portion of the 2025 team was however on the field, which included all of the newcomers for the Crimson Tide through the program’s freshmen and transfer portal classes.

After practice as well, Alabama second-year head coach Kalen DeBoer gave his first official press conference of spring practice also, commenting on a wide variety of topics ranging from returning players, newcomers, injury updates, and more.

Here are a few of those quotes from DeBoer, along with a full video of his press conference from Monday’s first spring practice.

“Alex Asparuhov, he’ll be out. David Bird will be out. Bubba Hampton will be out. Kevonte Henry, Domani Jackson, Deontae Lawson, Danny Lewis, Keon Sabb, and then we have some guys that are limited really just non-contact. Justin Jefferson, Kadyn Proctor, James Smith, so pretty much most of those injuries all from last season still, and expected, so nothing new there from our standpoint.”

“I saw him last summer and saw him in person for one game last fall. He looks good right now. Strong and moves around. He’s just a good all-around athlete, but the weight program for him, certainly for any new guy, is going to be critical. It’s good to get that first phase under the belt. It’s why being an early-enrollee is so important.”
