Mark Dantonio is finding a new role in retirement.
The former Michigan State football coach and recent College Football Hall of Fame inductee was named to the College Football Playoff Selection Committee on Tuesday. It is a three-year term that begins this spring.
“I am very honored to be selected to the College Football Playoff Committee,” Dantonio said in a release. “It’s exciting to join an outstanding group of people dedicated to college football and I will look to bring a coach’s perspective to the process. I want to thank the CFP for this opportunity to help and serve the game that has given so much to me throughout my career.”

Dantonio was appointed by the CFP Management Committee, along with Maryland athletic director Damon Evans, Middle Tennessee State athletic director Chris Massaro, former Ole Miss All-American and NFL player Wesley Walls and former sportswriter Ivan Maisel.
Baylor athletic director Mack Rhoades will take over as the selection committee chair from Michigan AD Warde Manuel, who served as chair last season.
Dantonio, who retired Feb. 4, 2020, is the winningest coach in MSU history with a 114-57 record over 13 seasons in East Lansing. He also coached three years at Cincinnati and was an assistant at MSU, Ohio State, Kansas and Youngstown State during his career.
