Miller Moss takes field for Louisville football. 5 observations of Jeff Brohm’s team

Louisville football coach Jeff Brohm still is getting used to his new team. More than one-third of the rostered players are either first-year transfers or freshman midyear enrollees. Many of those players will be in the running to fill the 14 vacant starting spots heading into the 2025 season.

The Cardinals’ transfer portal class ranks 28th nationally and fifth in the ACC, while the high school recruiting class comes in at 57th and 12th in the ACC, per 247Sports.

“It takes a while to learn what they look like in the helmet, so sometimes I’m asking who exactly that is,” Brohm said. “But I like our crew.”

The Cardinals’ third-year coach will have 15 practices over a little more than a month to get acclimated to the new players after spring practices began Monday. Six practices will be open to the public before wrapping up with the spring football game April 11.

Louisville will have plenty of depth at multiple positions in hopes of putting together another strong season after going 9-4 in 2024.

But he wasn’t perfect, showing emotion when he missed a read and was later picked off by D’Angelo Hutchinson during 11-on-11 drills.
