Ohio State point guard Jaloni Cambridge has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Year by the media.
Cambridge becomes the 11th Buckeye to earn the Big Ten Freshman of the Year.
In the coaches’ vote, Cambridge was named Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Year alongside Michigan’s Olivia Olson.
Cambridge averaged 16 points and 3.9 assists through 25 games this season, which also earned her a spot on the coaches’ All-Big Ten first-team and both the coaches’ and media’s All-Big Ten freshman-team.

Entering her freshman season as the No. 2 recruit from the Class of 2024, according to ESPN, Cambridge was slotted into Ohio State’s starting lineup right away.
In the first game of the season against Cleveland State, Cambridge scored 31 points. Cambridge hit her season-high against Michigan State with 33 points on Feb. 26.
“She’s done a lot for us,” Ohio State senior Taylor Thierry said. “It’s kind of cool to see how she’s grown throughout the season. Sometimes I forget that she’s only a freshman.”

Ohio State holds the record for Big Ten Freshman of the Year awards, with Cotie McMahon being the most recent Buckeye recipient for the 2022-23 season.
