Texas A&M’s immediate quarterback future is at the feet of redshirt sophomore Marcel Reed, who is entering his first entire season as the program’s starter after appearing in 11 games last season, throwing for 1,864 yards, 15 touchdowns, and six interceptions.
However, Reed’s future after the 2025 season is unknown. With Miles O’Neill waiting on the roster, the transfer portal will continue to give and take for every program, meaning head coach Mike Elko and OC Collin Klein will need to first focus on signing 2026 four-star quarterback commit Helaman Casuga and then continue pursuing one of the top 2027 signal callers.
On Monday, it was revealed that 2027 four-star quarterback Peyton Houston, rising in the recruiting rankings after his prolific 2024 sophomore season, will make 12 visits starting with a month, including a trip to College Station on March 21. Houston threw for a prolific 4,480 yards and 38 touchdowns as a relatively unknown prospect then.
Like current Florida sophomore QB DJ Lagway, Houston’s sudden rise is why the Aggies need to develop a strong relationship early in the recruiting process and ensure they stay in the race heading into next summer.
According to Rivals, Houston is currently positioned as the 6th-ranked prospect in the 2027 cycle, the 2nd-ranked quarterback prospect, and the 2nd-ranked prospect in Texas.
