As Kirk Ferentz and Iowa football look to improve on their offensive output entering the 2025 college football season, the Hawkeyes made news Monday by reportedly hiring former Wake Forest offensive coordinator Warren Ruggiero as a senior analyst for the upcoming campaign.
Although the name may not be familiar to some Hawkeyes fans, here are three things to know about Ruggiero that should start some excitement for what he has to offer as part of Iowa’s staff next season.

Before being replaced by former South Alabama offensive coordinator Rob Ezell as the Wake Forest OC a few months ago, Ruggiero had spent the past 11 seasons with the Deamon Deacons, where he orchestrated prolific offensives that rivaled the success rates of many premier college football programs.

Particularly in the 2021 campaign, Ruggiero had generated impressive offensive outputs while OC for the Deamon Deacons, where he helped guide the team to the nation’s No. 4 scoring offense that season.
