Bret Bielema and the Illinois football have added another in-state recruit, this one on the offensive line.
Olney East Richland offensive lineman Casey Thomann announced his commitment to the Fighting Illini on Tuesday. The 6-foot-7, 300-pound tackle is a three-star recruit in the Class of 2026. He chose Illinois over Iowa, Iowa State, Nebraska and Northwestern, among others.
Thomann announced the decision in a social media post, thanking God, his family, coaches and teammates. He told On3.com that Champaign “felt like the best place for me athletically, academically and socially. …
“It’s home,” he told the recruiting website. “Everywhere in my hometown and around me it’s all Illini. It’s just the best fit for me and I’m ready to get to work.”

Thomann is the 10th commit in the Class of 2026 and third in-state pickup, joining Frankfort Lincoln-Way West edge rusher Jacob Alexander and DeKalb receiver Davon Grant.
The Illini are coming off a 10-win season and a victory in the Citrus Bowl. They have added multiple transfers, recently secured a 22-player 2025 recruiting class and return 18 starters for the 2025 season.
