Florida among schools looking to flip Georgia’s top commit

The Georgia Bulldogs earned a commitment from four-star safety Zech Fort on Jan. 30, 2025. However, there have been several schools trying to flip Fort from Georgia, according to On3.

Fort is a four-star safety from the class of 2026. The 5-foot-10, 190-pound safety plays high school football for IMG Academy, in Bradenton, Florida. IMG Academy has produced two-time national-champion Nolan Smith, promising cornerback Ellis Robinson IV and more talented UGA players. Zech Fort is looking to continue the pipeline of IMG defenders producing for the Bulldogs.

However, it appears that Fort appears to be weakening on his commitment to the Georgia Bulldogs. “So many schools are recruiting me even harder now than they were before I committed,” Fort told On3. “Georgia Tech, Notre Dame, Miami, Florida, USC, and some other are recruiting me right now.”

If Fort were to flip to anyone of their schools, it would weaken Georgia’s sparse 2026 recruiting class. Georgia has just four four-star commits (Fort, Lincoln Keyes, Jontavius Wyman, and Vance Spafford) and one three-star commit (Seven Cloud). Georgia’s 2026 class currently ranks No. 17 in the nation in this early stage of recruiting.

The Georgia Bulldogs finished with the No. 2 recruiting class in the 2025 cycle, so Dawgs fans should expect UGA and Kirby Smart to pick things up soon.
