There has been a major boost for the Florida football 2026 recruiting class as four-star linebacker Izayia Williams has verbally committed to the Gators.
The recruitment of Williams intensified with the arrival of the 2026 class season, spearheaded by new assistant coach Robert Bala and supported by defensive coordinator Ron Roberts, who played a pivotal role despite Williams’ previous commitment to the Florida State Seminoles.
Williams highlighted the personal connection he developed with Roberts when he talked with 247Sports, saying, “The connection and relationship I have with coach (Ron) Roberts (is strong). He still reaches out. He kept reaching out when I was committed. He didn’t care about that. He didn’t care about Florida State. He was still reaching out to me and trying to get me to come up there.”
Williams’ commitment is a major win for Florida’s 2026 class, which now features three verbal commitments: Will Griffin, a four-star quarterback from Tampa and Devin Jackson, a three-star safety from Orlando.
On the field, Williams’ performance has been nothing short of stellar. Last season at Tavares High School, he racked up 125 tackles, including 15 for loss, four sacks and an interception.
This latest addition not only strengthens Florida’s future defensive unit, but also maintains their program’s reputation as an attractive option for elite talent across the country.
