FSU football’s 2 for 1 special: Darryll, Mandrell Desir share identical, impactful goals

Florida State football’s freshmen Darryll and Mandrell Desir are inseparable. That’s because they are identical twins.

If one goes, the other will follow, whether on the field or in the classroom. The defensive line duo also share the same goal.

And that brings them even closer together.

“It’s like a person who pushes me anytime, anywhere. In school, education, life,” Darryll said about his brother. “He’s just generally a person who is always with me at all times. If you see him, you’re going to see me. “

They hope to make an immediate impact in their first season with the Seminoles as early enrollees in the 2025 class.

The Desir brothers are similar in many ways. They both play similar games on the field as edge rushers and have the production numbers to match.

In the last three seasons at Norland High School, Mandrell registered 148 total tackles, 22 tackles for loss, 18 sacks, a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries.

Darryll recorded 149 total tackles, 42 tackles for loss, 23 sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. In their final two seasons, they led the Vikings to playoff appearances, including a state title run in their junior year.

Their traits are similar, and it’s almost hard to tell them apart. However, there are minor differences between the two.

Darryll pointed out that Mandrell’s hair was thicker. Mandrell said Darryl has a small scar on the right side of his forehead.

Both also have different tattoos on their right arms. Darryll is slightly taller at 6-foot-5, while Mandrell is 6-foot-4. Both weigh 240 pounds, but Mandrell has a broader build.

Other than that, the former Miami-Norland standouts are so close to being clones that even Mike Norvell couldn’t tell them apart without guessing when he first met them.

However, Norvell was thrilled to have both join the Tribe ’25 after seeing what they could…
