The Oregon Ducks don’t have plans of moving on from head coach Dan Lanning any time soon.
According to a report from Yahoo! Sports Ross Dellenger, Lanning and the Ducks have agreeon an an amended 6-yar contract that increases his annual by by $2 million. This comes after one of the best seasons in the program history, with the Ducks winning the Big Ten Championship in their first year as members of the conference, and going into the College Football Playoff as the No. 1 overall seed.
According to Dellenger, the fully-guaranteed deal iaverages nearly $11 million annually, making Lanning one of the five highest-paid coaches in the nation.
The buyout for Lanning to leave Oregon has not changed with the new deal, where he would now owe the University $20 million should he leave for another job.
After going 35-6 in his three years with the Ducks and signing a trio of top-10 ranked recruiting classes, Oregon feels good about where their football program is at, and where it is currently heading. Locking down Lanning for the foreseeable future was the right move, in the end.
