When Ohio State lost defensive coordinator Jim Knowles to Big Ten rival Penn State, there were a lot of names thrown out there on a hotboard by many media members and websites. We weren’t immune to it and did the same. However, as has been the case often under head coach Ryan Day, the hire that was made came well outside of what anyone thought with the announcement of former New England assistant and Lions head coach, Matt Patricia.
Since then, we haven’t really heard much from Patricia, but we got our first real chance to get his thoughts on the decision to come to Columbus and what he thinks about his future on the banks of the Olentangy on Friday.
As an OSU fan, there’s no doubt you’ll want to get acclimated with Patricia and since his DNA is really in the NFL and up in the Northeast, there’s a good chance there’s not a whole lot of familiarity there for most fans. Since that’s the case, we’ve got video of Patricia’s appearance at a coaches’ press conference held at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center thanks to Eleven Warriors.
Patricia was quite personable, quick on his feet with thoughts and answers, and impressed many with how he handled himself in front of the Ohio State media. It really shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise since he has been in front of the camera and in many pressers before at the highest level, but in case you missed any of what he said, you can check out the complete question and answer question below thrown out there.
We’ll continue to have more during the offseason and with the leadup to spring football as it becomes available, including any further that comes from Patricia and other new pieces of the coaching staff.
