LSU football announced Kyle Williams as its new defensive line coach last week. Williams, a former Tiger, joined the staff after former defensive line coach Bo Davis departed for the same position with the New Orleans Saints.
LSU had a revolving door at defensive line coach over the last decade. LSU and head coach Brian Kelly hoped Davis would bring stability, but Kelly was left looking for his fourth defensive line coach in four years. LSU now hopes Williams can be a long-term solution.
On Monday, Davis met with the media and discussed his decision to leave LSU along with what Williams will bring to the staff.
“I think they’re getting a good person, a good coach. I think it’s going to be tremendous for him and the knowledge that he brings from the game to those young men, I think it’s going to be unbelievable,” Davis said.
“It was just an opportunity that presented itself and I think it was a good opportunity for me and my family. I love LSU,” Davis said.
Williams will have a talented room to work with in year one. Dominick McKinley and Ahmad Breaux both return after making impacts as true freshman. Veteran Jacobian Guillory returns after missing most of 2024 with an Achilles injury.
