Big Ten tournament schedule, bracket, scores as Michigan State leads field

After a midseason swoon allowed rival Michigan to climb to the top of the Big Ten standings, Michigan State rebounded with a seven-game winning streak to close the regular season three games ahead of second-place finishers Maryland and the Wolverines.

This has made the Spartans the favorite in this week’s Big Ten tournament, a crowded and likely competitive five-day stretch that will decide whether the conference sends as few as eight or as many as 10 teams into this year’s NCAA field.

But what the Big Ten won’t likely have is a No. 1 seed, with that space occupied by Houston, Duke and two teams from the SEC. Michigan State likely is locked into the No. 2 line by winning the conference tournament for the seventh time under coach Tim Izzo, while the Terrapins and Wisconsin could rise that high by doing the same and getting some help in the SEC and Big 12.
