Brian Kelly reveals how much LSU football spent on its roster in 2025

LSU football made significant investments in its roster in recent months. Now, we know just how much.

According to The Advocate’s Wilson Alexander, LSU head coach Brian Kelly said the program has committed 26.1 million to LSU’s roster for 2024-26.

LSU’s resources were directed at the transfer portal, high school recruiting, and retaining key players from the 2024 roster. It paid off with LSU signing the top ranked transfer portal class in the country along with a top 10 high school recruiting class. LSU retained key veterans Garrett Nussmeier, Aaron Anderson, and Harold Perkins. All of those elements are leading to high expectations for LSU in 2025.

With NIL and revenue sharing on deck, college football is an arms race. LSU was originally behind the eight-ball, but the Tigers have made big strides in the last year. LSU aims to be among the top spenders in the sport and LSU is in a position to accomplish that goal.

Kelly didn’t say how the money was being allocated. LSU will spend around $13 million of its revenue sharing on football. This is in line with what most major programs are spending on football from their rev share pool. LSU will supplant that money with NIL funds.

LSU football will open its 2025 schedule with a projected top-10 battle at Clemson.
