Notre Dame missed out on top 2026 safety targets who commits to ACC foe Clemson

It was not a great day for Notre Dame football recruiting on Tuesday, as they not only lost out to USC with Irish wide receiver Trent Mosley (with a troll job on top of that), they also saw one of its top safety targets in Kaden Gebhardt committing to Clemson.

The 6-foot, 2-inch and 200-pound Ohioan got an offer from the Irish at the end of February, but it wasn’t enough to make up ground on the Tigers. The nation’s No. 405 overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings had more than a few official visits sets for the next few months, but it remains to be seen if he will actually take those.

While he didn’t have one set to see Notre Dame, it was implied that the Irish would want him on campus with the scholarship offer. The good news here is that there are still multiple high-level prospects that are considering Notre Dame, so it could turn out that Gebhardt’s commitment to Clemson won’t matter in the long run.
