Auburn football is in the mix to land one of the nation’s top running backs from the 2026 recruiting cycle.
Jae Lamar, a four-star running back from Colquitt County High School in Moultrie, Georgia, recently included Auburn in his top ten college choices. Hugh Freeze and his coaching staff are in a race with several SEC programs including Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee. Clemson, Florida State, and Ohio State are also in the mix.
In addition to revealing his top ten choices, Lamar has announced a commitment date of July 4. Auburn will get a chance to win Lamar over during their scheduled visit on May 16. Lamar will visit North Carolina in April before visiting Auburn and Georgia in May. He will close out his visits in June to Florida State and Miami before announcing his commitment on Independence Day.
Lamar is the No. 9 running back of the 2026 class, and is the No. 12 overall recruit from Georgia. According to On3’s recruiting prediction machine, Georgia is the current favorite to sign Lamar with an overwhelming 85% forecast. Auburn is next with a 5.5% chance, followed by Miami and Florida State.
