The Hurricanes landed one of South Florida’s best up-and-coming prospects on Thursday afternoon.
Miami Norland 2027 cornerback Kenton Dopson III committed to Miami, announcing his decision on social media.
Dopson, who is listed as No. 12 nationally in Rivals’ recruiting rankings, chose Miami over offers from Florida, Florida State and Texas A&M, among others.
Dopson, who is listed at 6 feet tall and 170 pounds, had 16 tackles and three interceptions for Norland last season, going the whole season without allowing a touchdown. MaxPreps selected Dopson as a sophomore All-American after the season.
Dopson took an unofficial visit to UM during the first week of spring practice, according to 247Sports.
Miami has one other commit in the 2027 class: American Heritage wide receiver Ah’mari Stevens.
