Texas A&M’s deep RB room will determine the Aggies’ success in 2025

Texas A&M’s 2025 football offseason officially begins Thursday, March 20. Head coach Mike Elko and his staff are looking to progress significantly with several position groups, including starting quarterback Marcel Reed’s development track.

However, as I’ve noted over the last two months, A&M’s defensive line depth and questionable secondary will continue to hinder the team’s future success if not addressed in the spring transfer portal. Still, the Aggies possess key strengths at running back, while nearly every starter from last season’s offensive line has returned, meaning OC Collin Klein’s scheme should work and result in success through the air and on the ground.

Focusing on the running back rotation, senior Le’Veon Moss returns after his season-ending knee injury, while, barring any setbacks, former five-star RB Rueben Owens is set to share reps with Moss after missing every game in 2024 outside several snaps in the loss to Texas, and 13 carries for 56 yards in the bowl game loss to USC.

Behind Moss and Owens, senior Amari Daniels will take a step back from his primary backup role but will be utilized in the passing game due to his size and speed, while 2025 signees Deondrae “Tiger” Riden and Jamarion Morrow fill out what is the deepest running back room Texas A&M has had in several seasons.

Le’Veon Moss will likely see fewer snaps during the Maroon & White spring game. At the same time, Owens and both freshmen are the players to watch, especially Jamarion Morrow, who could see the field as soon as next season due to his elite quickness and versatility in the passing game.

Here is what the RB depth chart should look like heading into Texas A&M’s spring season:
