Michigan football’s new offensive coordinator strolled to the podium Monday afternoon in Schembechler Hall to address the local media for his first time and fielded more than a dozen questions in the process.
Some were about the new stable of running backs at his disposal, some about the wide receiver room and if he forsees improvement in the pass game, while others still centered around re-building an offensive line and who’s working at the tackle positions.
But without a doubt, the most common questions centered around the quarterback position.
The most important position on the team was a nightmare in 2024. Davis Warren completed 64.1% of his passes and had more interceptions (9) than touchdowns (7). Alex Orji did not complete a single pass with more than 15 air yards and finished just 25 of 47 passing for only 150 yards (a microscopic 3.2 yards per attempt) and has since transferred to UNLV. The team even turned to Jack Tuttle, but he completed just 30 of 50 tries (60.0%) for 306 yards, one scores and two picks before he medically retired. He’s now on staff helping with wide receivers.
Though the room has been revamped, Lindsey says a competition will ensue in camp. The battle will be between incoming five-star freshman Bryce Underwood, grad transfer Mikey Keene and redshirt freshman Jadyn Davis.
