Alabama softball moved down one spot in national polls following its series loss to Mississippi State to open Southeastern Conference play at Rhoads Stadium last weekend.
The Crimson Tide moved from No. 23 to No. 24 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 Poll that was released on Tuesday. It comes after Alabama took one of three games in its conference series opener against the Bulldogs.
Mississippi State run-ruled Alabama 9-1 in six innings in the first game, Alabama evening the series at 1-all following a 7-4 victory in Game 2. The Bulldogs, though, took Game 3, 4-3, and the series, 2-1.
Alabama is one of 12 SEC teams ranked in the poll, alongside Oklahoma (1), Texas (2), LSU (3), Florida (4), Texas A&M (6), Tennessee (7), South Carolina (T-10), Georgia (15), Arkansas (16), Mississippi State (19) and Ole Miss (20).
Alabama has a midweek contest against Florida State on Wednesday, March 19 at 6 p.m. CT at Rhoads Stadium. The Crimson Tide will then travel to College Station, Texas for a three-game SEC series with the Aggies between Friday, March 21 and Sunday, March 23.
