Eddie George talks about TSU QB Draylen Ellis’ leadership qualities

Former Tennessee Tech football coach and Sewanee assistant Dewayne Alexander is joining former Tennessee State coach Eddie George’s staff at Bowling Green State.
Alexander will serve as George’s assistant head coach and tight ends coach. He follows Brandon Fisher, who told The Tennessean Tuesday that he is leaving as TSU’s defensive coordinator to serve in the same role at Bowling Green.
Alexander, a Hendersonville native, was the coach at Tennessee Tech from 2018-2023. He played at Hendersonville and was the Golden Eagles’ assistant head coach and offensive line coach from 2013-15 and defensive line coach in 2002.
Alexander spent last season on former Middle Tennessee State coach Andy McCollum’s staff at Sewanee as assistant head coach, run game coordinator and offensive line coach.
He had been hired earlier this month at TSU as George’s offensive line coach. When George was hired on March 9 at Bowling Green, George then asked Alexander to join him there.
“It’s been a crazy last few days,” Alexander said. “I was set to join coach George’s staff at TSU and literally within 24 hours of officially accepting that position the BGSU opportunity came about for Eddie.”
Alexander and George became friends while coaching against each other during the time Alexander was at Tennessee Tech.
