The Alabama football secondary will be fine without Malachi Moore. The former safety admitted it, listing off a deluge of names — Zabien Brown, Zavier Mincey, Domani Jackson, Dre Kirkpatrick Jr., Red Morgan, even freshman Dijon Lee — as players set to pick up right where he left off.
But when Moore was asked at Alabama football Pro Day 2025 which player wowed him, the one that stood out most after his first offseason away from the Crimson Tide, he went to the receiver room.
“The biggest one would probably be Rico Scott for me,” Moore said without wasting much time.
It’s not that Scott has changed much to Moore. The wide receiver has always been a hard worker, Moore said. He’s never complained about playing time, and always kept his head down, did what he was told and put that extra work in. It’s what Scott’s day-to-day grind, which Moore knew well, what it turned into.
“I’ve just seen him really just take his game to another level,” Moore said.
It was a transformation Jalen Milroe allowed to be put on full display Wednesday morning as Scott, along with Ryan Williams, Germie Bernard and Isaiah Horton, the Miami transfer and one of the newest members of the Crimson Tide receiver room, worked with the quarterback during his Pro Day.
And while the receivers were able to help show off what Milroe was able to do with his arm, Milroe gave NFL teams a preview of what Alabama’s wide receiver room will look like come Aug. 30 against Florida State.
“We have a lot of great talent in the receiver room,” Milroe said, adding running back Jam Miller and NFL-bound tight ends CJ Dippre and Robbie Ouzts into the mix too. “We have a special group, and it was just a lot of fun to show the script we had been working.”
