Spring ball is nearing as the 2025 college football season is getting closer and closer each day. It will welcome in new faces across the country as transfer portal additions and subtractions have provided seismic changes to rosters.
Despite the change that has brought, one consistent of college football is new recruits stepping foot on campus in their freshman season after being highly touted in high school.
One of those top recruits is Iose Epenese, a future Iowa Hawkeye, who is among the top defensive linemen in the nation in his recruiting class. As he nears his first action with Iowa this upcoming fall, ESPN dove into how he fits in with the program.
DE Iose Epenesa, Iowa | ESPN300 No. 29
Iowa fans hope Epenesa fits as well as his brother, Bills defensive lineman A.J. Epenesa, did while in Iowa City. Iose has a chance to be even better, and he’s arguably even more college-ready at this stage. He blends quickness, power and active hands, while displaying good instincts and a high motor. With Deontae Craig moving on and Ethan Hurkett nearing the end, Epenesa has an opportunity to make a quick impact and the tools to make his own mark on Iowa’s program. – Luginbill, Haubert, ESPN
Expectations are high for Epenesa, who is coming from a great lineage of talent at A.J. Epenesa was a force for the Iowa Hawkeyes defensive line.
As a five-star recruit, per 247Sports, he was ranked as the No. 27 overall recruit, the No. 5 defensive lineman, and the No.1 recruit coming from Illinois in the class of 2025.
