McGuire tagged Sanders on social media Friday afternoon and told him, “(L)et’s work on a waiver for a spring practice together and do it in Dallas at The Star! We are in!”
NCAA rules currently don’t allow FBS teams to face each other during spring practice or in exhibition spring games, but Sanders said during a news conference on Monday he’d like to see college teams go to more of an NFL model during the off-season. In addition to their preseason schedules, NFL teams are able to conduct joint practices with each other.
Fran Brown was actually first to reach out publicly to Sanders’ suggestion. The Syracuse coach said on X, the social-media platform formerly known as Twitter, that “(W)e will come to Boulder for 3 days.”
Don’t hold your breath on NCAA legislation moving quickly enough to enable opposing teams to meet in spring games this year. Even if it did, it appears Syracuse and Brown are further down the road to doing something with Colorado and Sanders…
