One school that plans to play a spring game this season: Oregon.
The scrimmage is set for April 26 and will be seen on BTN.
After the disappointing way last season ended, Dan Lanning is taking every opportunity to get on the field in front of fans.
Oregon, the best team all season, lost to Ohio State in the College Football Playoff quarterfinal. Certainly some in Eugene feel the time off before the game took the edge away.
Oregon faces a pair of tricky games in the nonconference, which I rate No. 7 among Big Ten schools.
Long after the spring game, Oregon hosts FCS school Montana State. On Sept. 6, it is the first of two games against OSUs: Oklahoma State and Oregon State.
Thankfully, given what happened last season, the Ducks miss the other OSU: Ohio State. Whew.
Oklahoma State sounds better on paper than it is in reality. Mike Gundy’s team is coming off a disaster season that ended 3-9 and winless in the Big 12. He might get it fixed, but it will take some time.
Oregon State wasn’t much better, going 5-7 and missing the postseason.
The worrisome part for fans of the heated series is there is no game scheduled between the two beyond 2025. Oregon State certainly wants to continue but Oregon doesn’t have much motivation since they aren’t in the same conference. Stay tuned.
Oregon’s conference schedule includes trips to Penn State and Iowa. Indiana, Wisconsin and Southern California visit Autzen Stadium.
