Mark Bowman preparing for big visit to Austin
Next week, the Texas Longhorns will welcome five-star tight end Mark Bowman to campus for a visit. The California native is one of the best players in the 2026 class and is being pursued by some of the top programs in the country. As Texas looks to add to their offense, Bowman is one of the main targets on their wishlist.
Over the last few years, Bowman has drawn the interest of schools nationwide due to his skill set. He can be a weapon in the passing game and open up space for his teammates due to his blocking. The Longhorns are competing with Oregon, Alabama, Miami, Ohio State, and Florida.
While Bowman has not been to Texas for a while, he is looking forward to his visit and seeing what the program has to offer.
” It’s a big visit,” Bowman told Chad Simmons of On3. ” I’m very excited to get back out to Austin and see some of the coaching staff and some of the players. One of the big things I’m looking to see is how that tight-end room looks. Who’s going to play, who’s going to be in the room with me that I’ll be competing with.”
As Bowman prepares for his recruiting tour, he is coming one of a stellar season. In 2024, Bowman was a MaxPreps All-America second-team selection for the second time. While being a central part of the offense, Bowman helped the Mater Dei Monarchs to a No. 1 national ranking and a MaxPreps National Championship.
Although Bowman will have a lot of offers to consider, the Longhorns hope he will be at the top of their list. Next week will be an opportunity for Steve Sarkisian to show Bowman how the Longhorns can get the best out of his skill set. Regardless of how the visit goes, Bowman will be a prospect to watch as recruiting for the 2026 class continues.
